Medical City located in Lake Nona, is quickly becoming Orlando’s hub of learning and health technology in Central Florida. The 7,000-acre community is already home to the GuideWell Innovation Center, UCF College of Medicine, Nemours Children’s Hospital, the Sanford-Burnham Medical Institute and the Orlando VA Medical Center. An economic study by Arduin, Laffer & Moore Econometrics projects that medical city will create over 30,000 jobs and bring $7.6 billion in annual economic activity by the year 2017.
GuideWell and its family of forward-thinking companies are focused on helping people and communities achieve better health and are at the forefront in the transformation of health care. The not-for- profit mutual holding company includes Florida Blue, GuideWell Connect, GuideWell Health and Diversified Service Options, Inc. The GuideWell Innovation Center is one of the first planned buildings in Medical City. The building represents the innovation interests of the community and is the epicenter for the development of new health solutions. The Center includes research labs from two major universities as well as the anchor tenant of the GuideWell Innovation CoRE (Collaborative Resource Ecosystem).
